Targeting Ads Introduction

Improve your product exposure and sales using Targeting Ads. They appear in locations where Shopee recommends products:

  1. Daily Discover on the homepage
  2. Similar Products and You May Also Like on the product detail page

Why should I use Targeting Ads?

  1. Boost exposure

Display your products at highly visible positions within Daily Discover on the homepage, as well as Similar Products and You May Also Like on product detail page. 

Using both Targeting Ads and Keyword Ads, you can display your products in 3 of Shopee's most prominent locations, i.e. homepage, search results pages and product detail pages. 

  1. Grow sales

Reach relevant shoppers who are looking for products that are similar or complementary to yours. 

  1. Control spending

Control how much you spend by setting your preferred budget and cost-per-click bid price. 

How do I get started?

1. Choose the products you want to advertise

Before you start, make sure that your product title, pictures and descriptions are updated. Choose products with the "thumbs up" icon in the product selector. These items are recommended for ads as they have high sales and conversion rates.

2. Set your budget and duration for the ad

Your ad will run until one of the following occurs

  1. Budget runs out
  2. Ads Credit runs out
  3. Ad duration comes to an end

How will I be charged?

You will only be charged when shoppers click on your ads. The cost will be deducted from your Ads Credit.

To protect sellers, the Shopee system auto-detects invalid clicks, such as repeated clicks from the same shopper or automated clicks. You will not be charged for such clicks.

What determines my ad's exposure?

As multiple sellers advertise with Targeting Ads, your ad will compete with other ads for exposure. 

Your ad exposure is determined by 2 factors:

1. Cost-per-click bid price refers to the highest price you are willing to pay when a shopper clicks on your ad.

  1. The higher your bid price, the higher your ad exposure.
  2. The actual price charged is often less than your bid price. Shopee ads' auction system calculates the minimum amount required to show your ad. 

2. Product relevance measures how relevant your product is to the shopper. The higher your product relevance, the higher your ad exposure.  

  1. Your ad will have high relevance in Similar Products if your product is very similar to the product in the product detail page. To assess similarity, Shopee system analyses your product category, title and description to see how closely it matches other products.
  2. Your ad will have high relevance in You May Also Like if your product is highly related or complementary to the product in the product detail page. 
  3. Your ad will have high relevance in Daily Discover if a shopper has viewed, added to cart, liked or rated a product similar to yours in the past 30 days. 

Where will my Targeting Ads appear?

Targeting Ads are displayed: 

1. In the 1st and 2nd positions of the Similar Products section of a product detail page and every 5th position after that. 

2. In the first 35 You May Also Like positions, you can see up to 10 ads. The ex act ad position might vary based on ongoing performance optimisation.

3. In the first 100 Daily Discover positions, you can see up to 19 ads. The exact ad position might vary based on ongoing performance optimisation.
